LI Weekly Weather: Warm Start, But Fall Weather Is Coming Fast

LONG ISLAND, NY — The last few days of summer will be sunny and warm, but the fall weather is coming.

Thursday is the first full day of autumn, but it will still be summer-ish until then. Monday is the warmest day this week, with highs in the mid-80s. After that, highs will be around 80 on Tuesday and Wednesday.

There's a slight chance of rain Monday night, but then it's clear again until Wednesday night, when rain creeps back into the forecast.

Thursday, however, is likely to have rain, and the high temperatures will only be in the mid-70s. And Friday will be chilly — the predicted high won't even hit 70. Luckily, things will warm back up over the weekend.

Tonight: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 67. West wind 6 to 9 mph.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 80. Northwest wind around 9 mph.

Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 62. North wind around 6 mph.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 80. Light and variable wind becoming south 5 to 9 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.

Wednesday Night: Showers likely, mainly after 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 64. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Thursday: Showers likely, mainly before 8 a.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 76. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.

Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 52.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 67.

Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 51.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 72.
