Long Island Weather: Rain, More Snow In The Week's Forecast

LONG ISLAND, NY — Though Monday's snow may have come and gone, more precipitation is coming to Long Island.

Temperatures will rise during the week, but more rain is expected throughout the week, and snow could creep back into the forecast as well.

The high for Wednesday will be in the mid 40s, and climb to the mid 50s on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service. But that could come with rain Wednesday night into Thursday.

Temperatures will drop back into the 40s on Friday, and bring a chance of rain and snow in the morning. That will likely change to all rain in the afternoon.

The weekend looks like it will be clear and sunny, with highs in the low 40s.

Tuesday: A 50 percent chance of rain, mainly before 4 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 39. Northeast wind 6 to 11 mph becoming north in the afternoon.

Tuesday Night: Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 30. Northwest wind 6 to 8 mph.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 45. Wind chill values between 25 and 35 early. Light and variable wind becoming south 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon.

Wednesday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers after 1 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 40. South wind 6 to 9 mph.

Thursday: A 40 percent chance of showers, mainly before 1 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 54. North wind 7 to 14 mph becoming west in the morning.

Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 33.

Friday: A chance of rain and snow before 1 p.m., then rain. High near 42. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent.

Friday Night: Rain. Low around 33. Windy. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent.
