Massapequa Couple Charged In Connection To Jan. 6 Riot: US Atty.

Prosecutors announced that Kevin Moore and Carol Moore were arrested and charged with misdemeanor trespassing and disorderly conduct.

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY — A married couple from Massapequa has been arrested and charged in connection to the January 6 riot on the Capitol.

Kevin Moore, 61, and Carol Moore, 57, were arrested late Wednesday afternoon by the FBI, a spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York said.

They appeared before a U.S. magistrate judge in federal court on Thursday. The Moores are charged with misdemeanor trespassing and disorderly conduct. They were released on their own recognizance.

As of the unsealed statement of facts, photos purported to be the Moores at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. An investigation also indicates that the couple attended the "Million MAGA March" on Dec. 12, 2020. Another photo alleges they were at "Rally for Revival" on Jan. 5, 2021.

According to court documents, Kevin and Carol Moore were spotted in the Capitol on security video amid the riot. At approximately 3:13 p.m., the Moores passed a cell phone between themselves as they took photographs of other rioters and themselves with U.S. Capitol Police in the background dressed in riot gear.

Six minutes later, Kevin Moore aggressively yelled and gestured at a law enforcement officer, court documents reveal.

The U.S. Attorney's office said Kevin Moore is a 25-year MTA employee. Moore, a structure maintainer, had an approved absence for Jan. 6, 2021, an MTA spokesperson told Patch.

He has been out on a requested leave since April, the spokesperson added.
