MASSAPEQUA, NY — Massapequa-based Bacaro Original Foods Eggplant Meatballs are about to be available on a whole new scale, after the product was announced as one of four winners for the "Stew's Tank" competition.

The popular fresh food grocery store Stew Leonard put on the competition to identify exciting New York state made products to sell at their six New York and Connecticut locations. Bacaro's eggplant meatballs shared the winning honor with three other winners.

Bacaro's Italian Tavern is located on 1020 Park Blvd. in Massapequa, and their competition winning meatballs are made with a special blend of eggplant, panko, ricotta cheese, and Asiago cheese.

Bacaro's had to go through an extensive two-month long online application process, an in-person presentation and an in-store sampling process. The Massapequa Italian restaurant also beat out 130 other entries from all over New York to win the shelf space at Stew Leonard, according to Long Island Business News.

"Every day, I see a line of vendors at Stew's just waiting for the chance to pitch their product to our buying teams," Stew Leonard, Jr., president and CEO of Stew Leonard's, said in a statement. "Stew's Tank was a great way for us to get our customers involved in finding new and innovative products from local suppliers."
