Massapequa Olive Garden Closing For Good Tonight

After tonight's dinner, the restaurant will be closing its doors for good.

The Olive Garden in Massapequa, the chain Italian restaurant, is closing for good after its dinner service on Friday.

The restaurant has been in its location on Sunrise Highway in Massapequa since 1994, according to Newsday.

"Closing our Massapequa restaurant is a difficult business decision, and one we made very carefully and thoughtfully, particularly because it impacts our team members and our guests," said Hunter Robinson, communications manager for Olive Garden.

The restaurant employed about 100 people. Everyone was offered jobs at other Long Island Olive Gardens, Robinson said, or at other restaurants owned by Darden, Olive Garden's parent company. About two-thirds of the employees have taken other positions, according to Robinson.

Olive Garden has other Long Island locations in Westbury, Bay Shore, Valley Stream and Centereach.
