MASSAPEQUA, NY — Massapequa residents who love a tasty Mexican dinner are in luck — the Salty Chihuahua opened its doors this month, serving up jalapeño poppers, grilled steak tacos, carnitas, enchiladas, vegetarian burritos, tasty margaritas and more.

The restaurant, located at 1026 Park Blvd., opened July 2. Owner Danny Panagaton said residents ought to be excited to stop by the restaurant due to the product.

"Good food. Good drinks. Good atmosphere. One chef has original recipes from his grandmother back in Mexico," he said.

Rachel Dobkin, an employee of the Salty Chihuahua, was also quick to mention the high quality food.

"The environment and food is really authentic," she said. "The chef puts his little twist on everything and always uses fresh ingredients."

Panagaton cited the "up-and-coming" as one reason the joint opened in Massapequa.

"People are starting to recognize it as a spot where good restaurants are being opened," he said.

Mayor Jeffrey Pravato and the village's board members welcomed the Salty Chihuahua with a ribbon cutting ceremony at the beginning of July.
