Heuermann, a 59-year-old architect from Massapequa Park, has been charged in three of the four deaths of the Gilgo Four, all woman working in the sex trade whose remains were found along Ocean Parkway. He is the prime suspect in the death of the fourth woman.

The women's remains were part of 10 different sets found, including those of other women, a toddler, and an Asian male.

The remains of another woman, Shannan Gilbert, also a sex worker, were found in Oak Beach. It is her disappearance that sparked the investigation.

Over the years, there have been many theories about the killings, including that there were multiple killers and possibly even a sex ring was involved.

"Has the Long Island serial killer finally been captured?" Grace's promo asks. "Join Nancy Grace for an in-depth look at the disturbing investigation gripping the nation."

The report is titled "The Long Island Serial Killer."

Grace will discuss how the crimes were hidden, what law enforcement knew, when those facts came to light, and what might be next for the families of the victims, Newsday reported. ABC News chief legal correspondent Dan Abrams’ Law & Crime Productions produced the special, according to the outlet.

Heuermann's attorney maintains his innocence, and said last week that he looks forward to his day in court. He is being held without bail within the Suffolk County Correctional Facility, where he on suicide watch.

Grace, a former prosecutor, was inspired to join the legal field and become a victims' rights advocate after her fiance was shot to death.
