Spring is in the air (ALMOST).

Mother Nature rears her head in the Massapequa Preserve

Nesting time
Nesting time (Joe Gafa)

It’s that time of the year again in the Massapequa Preserve. A mother swan is building her nest and preparing for her new arrivals. A true sign on a chilly day that spring really is in the air and just around the corner.

Last year this mom hatched 6 Cygnets (swan chicks). Only one of last years 6 remains in the preserve. The others have either perished or chose to fly the coop.

Good luck to mom and dad, and thank you for this sign that milder days will soon be here!
