Suidical Man Shot Dead By Officers After Pointing Gun: Police

Police are investigating the Friday night shooting in Massapequa, authorities said.

MASSAPEQUA, NY — A man was killed by police Friday night in Massapequa.

Officers were responding to a suicidal 19-year-old man at a home on Stone Boulevard. When they arrived, the man, David Clements was standing in front of the home with three handguns, authorities said.

Clements was holding a gun in each hand pointed at his head and he was threatening to kill himself, police said.

He refused to disarm himself and briefly went back into the house. Clements returned outside as he rushed down the driveway, pointing a weapon at officers.

An officer fatally shot Clements just before 8:30 p.m. to end the threat to them and the public, police said.

Clements was pronounced dead at the scene by a Nassau County Police Department Medic. The department said it is continuing the investigation in conjunction with the state attorney general's office.
