Town Of Oyster Bay Sanitation Worker Dies While On Duty

MASSAPEQUA PARK, NY — A sanitation worker for the Town of Oyster Bay died while on the job this week.

Darren LiVecchi, 24, of Massapequa Park, suffered cardiac arrest and died on Tuesday.

"Darren was known for his dedication to the job and eagerness to serve residents however he could. My prayers are with his family during this heartbreaking time," Oyster Bay Supervisor Joseph Saladino said.

A GoFundMe page was approaching $5,000 in donations as of Thursday afternoon.

LiVecchi's wake is Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Massapequa Funeral Home. Mass will be held on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church in Massapequa.

"Darren’s heart of gold and kindness was taken from us far too soon," the GoFundMe page said.
