The Update

Disaster

I have always been timid about updates, long before I invited Apple into my life.

I rejected both the challenge of a new coiffure, or the lure of a minute eyebrow tattoo early in youth

Still at this stage of life, adventure does beckon with technology and the mandates of regular updates.

I have tried to focus on the positive and relinquish temptation to “stay as it is” with my Ipad, MacBook Air, cell phone and now, Alexa.

Therefore, this week I took the challenge and every device I own was updated with precision.

And it has been traumatic since my cell phone could not cope.

Perhaps (like me) it is aged or (also like me) weak, but undoubtedly, now frozen in time.

And, of course, that could be a valid perception of me from others, including friends and foe, both near and far.

This morning when I spoke at length to several Apple advisors, my coffee grew cold.

Although one and all were lovely people and quite sympathetic; sadly, they were unable to restore my frozen cell phone to usefulness.

While I await their promised callback (I am an optimist) I will reheat my coffee, and be very grateful I never had that tempting tattoo or succumbed to being a redhead.

The consequences could have been far worse than a disabled cell phone.

So, as soon as possible I plan to delete updates from my “Must Do” list for the foreseeable future.

Then I will put in an emergency call for our residential “in house” tech experts, Shaun and Soren.

And possibly indulge in a second fresh cup of coffee.
