The Yardbirds & Colorway Talk With Talking Hendrix

Friday Night From 7-8 p.m. on www.activatemedia.org

Our first guest is drummer Jim McCarty of the legendary Yardbirds, a musical force of nature since the 1960s, are back on the road, keeping alive the enduring legacy of one of rock’s most influential bands while expanding their music into new horizons.
Rooted in the blues, their amazing forays over the decades into jazz, folk, rock, pop, raga, improv, guitar feedback and, of course, the blues, is the stuff of legend and influence.

Their signature songs include timeless classics like For Your Love, Heart Full of Soul, Shapes of Things, I’m a Man, Over Under Sideways Down and Train Kept a Rollin’, amongst many others.

Featuring founding member, drummer Jim McCarty, the Yardbirds dazzling guitar pyrotechnics, which in the band’s earlier days featured the talents of Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page, are still on display courtesy of lead guitarist Godfrey Townshend and guitarist/lead vocalist John Idan. Included in the current lineup are bassist Kenny Aaronson (known for his work with Bob Dylan, Billy Idol and others) and Myke Scavone on vocals and blues harp. Jim’s autobiography, Nobody Told Me, was released to great acclaim in 2018.

Our second guest is Alex Johnson, member of the band Colorway who will be the supporting opening act for the Yardbirds on Thursday March 21st at 7:00 p.m. at the Iron Horse Music Hall located at 20 Center Street, Northampton, Massachusetts .
Colorway has shared stages with the likes of The Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band, Ian Hunter and the Rant Band, Television's Richard Lloyd, And The Kids, The Yardbirds and even Foreigner (with Mick Jones) among many others.
The indie, progressive, pop rock trio from Northampton, Mass has put out two full length albums of finessed rock in just the past four years and has recently released their third full length album " These Are The Days" this past June. The album features Chris Collingwood (Fountains Of Wayne) on backup vocals.

Colorway's live show is full of energetic, adventurous guitar work, smart and honest lyrics, and a rhythm section that moves, grooves and definitely soothes. We live in a crazy world. Let Colorway try to help make it okay for just a little while.
