MID-HUDSON VALLEY, NY — A flood watch was issued by the National Weather Service for parts of the Hudson Valley Thursday.

DESCRIPTION: The flood watch remains in effect through late Thursday night.

WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.

WHERE...In east central New York, Eastern Columbia and Eastern Dutchess.

IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Rainfall will occur into this evening as a line of strong thunderstorms moves through. Rivers and streams are already running high and any additional rainfall will go straight to run-off in areas that have recently flooded. Additional forecast rainfall amounts are 1 to 1.5 inches, locally up to 3 inches in the heaviest thunderstorms.

INSTRUCTIONS: You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
