High School Football Player Dies After 1st Practice In HV
His aunt has set up a GoFundMe page to help the family.
WALLKILL, NY — A Wallkill Senior High School varsity football player died Monday after the first day of practice.
Miguel Lugo, 17, suffered a medical emergency and was taken to the hospital where he later died, the Times Herald-Record reported.
The cause of death has not been determined.

Lugo's aunt set up a GoFundMe page to raise funds for the family.
Angela Morales said her nephew was "a vibrant and healthy boy who lit up any room that he walked in."

She said Miguel Lugo's parents will have a loss of work income in addition to planning his funeral.
"We will never know why the Lord took him home so soon, clearly he needed an angel so he took one of the best," Morales said.
As of Wednesday morning, more than $27,000 has been donated.
