HOPEWELL JUNCTION, NY — A church in Dutchess County will be hosting a nativity display that will feature live actors and animals.

The “Living Nativity” will be on display at Hopewell Reformed Church from 4:30 p.m to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Lead Pastor Doug Leonard said a 10-minute drive through the church ground will give families the chance to experience the joy of Christmas.

“It’s important for families to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the season, spend quality time together and experience the joy of Christmas,” he said.

According to organizers, live actors and animals will bring the nativity story to life in five scenes that re-enact the first Christmas. The church’s choir and hand bell choir will perform hymns and carols.

More than 1,400 people visited last year’s “Living Nativity.”

Donations from the event raised enough to provide gifts to 50 local children who wrote letters to Santa Claus, including one who wanted a gift card for his mother so she could buy Christmas dinner for the family.

Hopewell Reformed Church is at 143 Beekman Rd. in Hopewell Junction.
