NEWBURGH, NY — Motorists in Orange County should be aware of a lane reduction planned for Interstate 84.

The New York Department of Transportation said that I-84 will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Exit 32 (State Route 747) and Exit 39 (U.S. Route 9W) in the town of Newburgh.

Lane reductions will take place between 9:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14 and Friday, Dec. 15 to accommodate paving and guide rail replacement, weather permitting.

Motorists should anticipate delays and plan accordingly.

Motorists are urged to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver’s license.
