WAPPINGER, NY — Registered Republicans in the town of Wappinger went to the polls Tuesday to decide whether the incumbent supervisor would get to run on the Republican Party line in November to keep the job.

That seems to not be the case.

Incumbent Supervisor Richard L. Thurston was challenged by Joseph D. Cavaccini. With all election districts reporting, according to unofficial results, Cavaccini is leading Thurston 56.7 percent to 43.3 percent.
