Northern Dutchess Hospital is hosting the third annual Light the Village Pink celebration for Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. Businesses, schools and residents are invited to participate to raise awareness about breast cancer and support the breast program at Northern Dutchess Hospital, part of Nuvance Health.

Join the fun at the Light the Village Pink kick-off event from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 4, at Foster’s Coach House Parking Lot, 6411 Montgomery Street, Rhinebeck, NY 12572.

Organizations and community members can make a big impact by participating in Light the Village Pink. Funds raised will help grow breast cancer services for people in the community, including education, risk reduction, screenings, diagnostics and treatments.

Funds raised will also help Northern Dutchess Hospital launch a breast cancer survivorship program, an integral part of the breast program.

As a breast cancer survivor, Dr. Lisa D. Curcio, director of the breast program at Northern Dutchess Hospital, is passionate about establishing a survivorship program.

“The survivorship program will offer supportive care to patients during and after treatment, with the primary objective of enhancing their overall wellness,” said Dr. Curcio, a board-certified, fellowship-trained breast surgeon. “We will create personalized survivorship care plans that include managing potential post-treatment side effects and the stress commonly associated with a cancer diagnosis.”

“We established a comprehensive breast program three years ago so our neighbors who are affected by breast cancer can stay in their community and not have to travel for care,” said Denise George, president of Northern Dutchess Hospital. “We are excited about this year’s Light the Village Pink celebration and grateful for the community’s support and the partnership with the Rhinebeck Area Chamber of Commerce.”
