MOUNT VERNON, NY — A Hudson Valley hometown hero may soon be a household name around the globe, and City officials are hosting a watch party from 3-5 p.m. Friday at The Doles Center on 6th Avenue.

Rai Benjamin could take home the gold in the 400-meter hurdles at the Paris Olympics. The former Mount Vernon High School student, who went on to run for USC, won a silver medal four years ago in Tokyo.

The 27-year-old actually celebrated his birthday on July 27 in Paris.
