Pedestrian Struck On Hempstead Turnpike In Elmont: Cops

UPDATE: Nassau police announced the roadway was reopened at around 10:44 a.m.

ELMONT, NY — Hempstead Turnpike westbound between Elmont Road and Plainfield Avenue was closed off for almost three hours in Elmont after a person was struck on Tuesday morning, Nassau police said.

The person was taken to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries, according to police.

Their condition was not immediately known.

Police announced the road closure just after 8 a.m.

The roadway was shut for nearly three hours while police were on the scene.
