Valley Stream Man Accused Of Selling Illegal Weed In Smoke Shop: NCPD

Cannabis and gummies containing THC were being sold, police said.

VALLEY STREAM, NY — A local man is accused of possessing and selling unlawful cannabis products in Valley Stream.

Narcotics detectives investigating the Late Vibes Smoke Shop at 89 Ocean Ave. visited at 2:47 p.m. Thursday and found gummies containing THC and cannabis were being sold, Nassau County police said.

During the investigation, detectives recovered additional packages of a greenish brown leafy substance believed to be cannabis, US currency and packages of a substance believed to contain Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), police said.

Jeremiah Samlal of 1140 Jasper Street S, faces charges of fifth-degree Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance; two counts of fifth-degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance; Unlawful Sale of Cannabis; and Unlawful Possession of Cannabis.

He was scheduled to be arraigned Friday at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead, police said.

New York State announced new initiatives April 19 to shut down illicit cannabis operations and protect the legal marketplace. The plan provides the Office of Cannabis Management and local municipalities with new authority to take action against illicit storefronts and those who enable them.
