FBI Offers $10K Reward In Fugitive New Rochelle Murder Suspect Hunt

The FBI's New York Field Office is assisting the New Rochelle Police Department with the search for Mtayari Dixon.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Federal authorities are assisting in the hunt for a fugitive wanted in connection with a brutal slaying in New Rochelle in 2022.

The FBI’s New York Field Office is assisting the New Rochelle Police Department with the search for Mtayari Dixon. Dixon is wanted for murder in the killing of James Caldwell Jr. on October 26, 2022.

Dixon is accused of fatally shooting Caldwell after the two were involved in an argument on Horton Avenue in New Rochelle. After the murder, it is believed that Dixon boarded a train and went to Stamford, Connecticut. He then may have boarded a bus to Atlanta, Georgia, and then traveled on to Charlotte, North Carolina.

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the location and arrest of Dixon. Dixon has known ties to Charlotte, Atlanta, Georgia; Stamford, and New Rochelle, according to law enforcement.
