Teen Arrested In Connection With Shooting At New Roc City Burger King

Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from a physical altercation involving two groups inside the restaurant.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — On Friday, shortly before 8 p.m., New Rochelle police started receiving calls about a fight at the New Roc City Burger King on LeCount Place. The reports of a large altercation included reports of gun shots fired outside the restaurant.

Officers on the scene found 9mm shell casings on the sidewalk outside the restaurant. Witnesses said that several groups of men were seen were running from the scene.

New Rochelle detectives were able to locate the suspect in the shooting several blocks away. As detectives approached the suspect, he fled on foot while reaching into his waistband. After a brief foot pursuit, detectives were able to apprehend him, offcials said.

He was in possession of a Taurus 9mm handgun, according to detectives who placed him under arrest and took him to New Rochelle Police Headquarters. Investigators believe the incident stemmed from a physical altercation involving two groups inside the restaurant. The suspect, who is a 17-year-old, sustained a laceration in the melee and then shot multiple rounds at the fleeing group, police said.

There were no reports of anyone being hit with the gunfire at this time, according to officials.
