Train Station Attacker Nabbed After Returning To Scene of Crime: NRPD

A 65-year-old man told police he was punched in the face at the New Rochelle Metro-North Station after being asked for money.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A commuter took a detour to the hospital after an aggressive panhandler attacked him for not handing over cash, police said.

On Tuesday, shortly before 3:30 p.m., New Rochelle police were called to the train station on a report of an assault. Police on the scene located the victim, a 65-year-old man, who told officers that he was punched in the face by the suspect, who then fled.

The victim said the suspect approached him and asked if he had money. When the victim told him "no," the suspect punched him in the face and fled, according to police. The victim was taken to the hospital where he was treated for injuries to his face and head.

Police were able to find the suspect about an hour later when he returned to the train station. He was taken into custody without incident, according to officials.

41-year-old Troy Williams, of Mount Vernon, was charged with felony second degree assault.
