Wind Chill Watch: Dangerous Weather in Westchester

Temperatures will drop faster in New Rochelle, says the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service has updated its special weather notice for southern Westchester County:

Because temperatures could reach 5 degrees below zero, with northwest winds of 10-20 mph, the wind chill factor could go as low as 25 below, the NWS says. The combination has the potential to result in frostbite and hypothermia in living things and frozen pipes in people’s homes.

“Please take this weekend’s weather seriously,” says Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather. “Conditions like these are not just uncomfortable, they are potentially dangerous if you get caught outside unprepared for any length of time.”
