Woman Assaults Elderly Roommate In Pelham Road Apartment: Police

The 58-year-old woman broke a vase over her 71-year-old roommate's head, stabbed him, and stopped him from calling for help, cops said.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A New Rochelle odd couple had a decidedly not-for-primetime misadventure.

New Rochelle police say that on Saturday, shortly before noon, officers responded to a residential building on Pelham Road after a report of a man screaming for help.

Once on the scene, police found a 71-year-old man who said his roommate had assaulted him.

Investigators say an argument between the two turned physical, and 58-year-old Kathleen Ganley broke a vase over the victim's head, stabbed him multiple times and prevented him from calling police.

Ganley was also injured in the fight. Both roommates were treated at a local hospital.

Ganley was then arrested and charged with felony first degree assault and felony unlawful imprisonment.
