Police Log: Knife In Tree, Underage Drinking Claim, Bats

Excerpts from the Northport Police Department log.

Tuesday, Jan. 22

At 4:46 a.m., police responded to a Fort Salonga location for the report of blood that is possibly in the roadway. Officers searched the area to no avail.

At 7:24 a.m., police responded to a Nautilus Avenue location for the report of an injured deer that was stuck in the fence. The deer was euthanized. The Northport Village Highway Department removed the animal for disposal.

At 12:30 p.m., police received the report that a large garbage pail fell off the back of a dump truck and struck a vehicle on Fort Salonga Road.

At 3:30 p.m., police responded to the report of a knife in a tree on Locust Road. Police said someone may have placed the knife, of the kitchen variety and rusty, under the vine surrounding the tree. Police do not suspect any wrongdoing.

At 5:39 p.m., police received an anonymous letter alleging underage drinking at Sand City Brewing on Main Street. Police checked the location and did not observe any violations or underage patrons at that time. Employees were advised of the complaint and police requested they pass the concerns onto the owners.

At 11:57 p.m., police received a report of a bat loose inside a Bayview Avenue home. Officers located the bat and released it outside.

Wednesday, Jan. 23

At 2:10 p.m., police received a report that a woman says she was treated unfairly at Somewhere In Time on Main Street because she was deaf. Officers spoke to the owners to let them know of the complaint.

Thursday, Jan. 24

At 9:18 a.m., police received a report of a bat in a bathroom on Doris Court. An officer was able to move the bat outside using a towel.

At 1:12 p.m., police responded to a Vernon Valley Road location to assist Suffolk Police with a partially overturned vehicle. Officers remained at the scene until SCPD arrived.
