NYACK, NY — As residents continue to adjust their daily habits due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the amount of time that drivers are spending in their cars has, in some case, diminished dramatically. This is especially the case as more companies are asking their employees to work from home and as more drivers are limiting their time on the road while eliminating what were once routine trips and errands.

But the New York State Thruway Authority is now authorizing credits back to motorists who have purchased monthly E-Z Pass plans for use in traveling over the Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge. State thruway officials have also indicated that they are allowing drivers to suspend their current commuter plans if they find they aren’t using the passes nearly as much as they normally would.

According to Transit Authority spokeswoman Jennifer Givner, if a motorist is impacted financially due to travel restrictions due to coronavirus, they should visit the E-Z Pass customer service at (https://www.e-zpassny.com/en/home/index.shtml) and a refund will be issued for unused commuter trip charges. Trips over the bridge are typically $5 but are discounted to $4.75 using the E-Z Pass.
