Flood Advisory Issued For Rockland

A severe thunderstorm crossed the region dumping rain.

ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY — The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory for Rockland and Westchester counties.

The advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. Tuesday.

There could be minor flooding in low-lying and poor-drainage areas.

At 3:56 p.m., Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen, and additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area.

This additional rain will result in minor flooding, the National Weather Service said.
