HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Another strong storm is forecast to begin Sunday afternoon and continue into Tuesday. Once again, the precipitation is forecast to be plain rain, and once again temperatures will soar into the mid 50s.

" It appears it will develop into an event with significant rainfall totals and gusty winds. Yuck," Bruce Furbeck of First Due Weather said on Instagram. "Flooding and power outages will both be concerns."

Most of the weekend will be dry, good for holiday-themed activities. There's a chance of rain Sunday afternoon, and then rain is likely to be heavy overnight.

"After gathering steam from the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico early this weekend, the storm will rocket up the East Coast on Sunday and Monday along a path that is typical of storms during the winter months but carrying an amount of moisture usually seen during the summer," said Bill Deger, AccuWeather senior meteorologist.

As the storm moves north, the downpours could dramatically affect commutes on Monday in the New York Tri-State area. It could also have an effect on one of the busiest travel times as the holiday week begins. Interstates could be affected and ripple effects could be felt at airports all across the country, Deger said.

It'll be wierdly warm, too. Temperatures will climb starting Friday, and could reach the high 50s on Monday before dropping back into the 40s.

In Dutchess and Ulster counties, some snow could mix with rain showers Monday night and Tuesday.

Quieter weather is expected to return in the storm's wake.
