Nyack, Piermont Village Boards Among Upcoming Meetings

NYACK, NY — Dwight D. Eisenhower famously said, "Politics ought to be the part-time profession of every citizen who would protect the rights and privileges of free people."

There are plenty of upcoming chances to help tend to our democracy close to the roots. Several public meetings are scheduled for this week that affect Piermont and the Nyacks.

Monday

  • Clarkstown Zoning Board of Appeals, 7 p.m., Town Hall
  • Piermont Board of Trustees, 6 p.m., Special Budget Meeting Workshop

Tuesday

  • Clarkstown Board of Education, 7 p.m. Special meeting for BOCES Annual Vote
  • Nyack Board of Education, 6:30 p.m.
  • South Orangetown Board of Education, 7 p.m., adoption of budget for 2023-24

Wednesday

  • Clarkstown Planning Board, 7 p.m., Town Hall. On the agenda: a public hearing about putting a 39,894 sq.ft. building at 540 Landmark Drive, where a cluster subdivision is approved. The property is located on 3.95 acres of M zoned land on the east side of Landmark Drive about 365 feet south of Scratchup Road in Congers.
  • Nyack Architectural Review Board, 7 p.m. Village Hall. Among the agenda items, Taco Boys at 21 Route 59 seeks approval for window murals and outdoor dining on the west side of the building.
  • Orangetown Zoning Board, 7 p.m., Greenbush Auditorium
  • Piermont Board of Trustees, 7 p.m.. On the agenda: adopt budget.

Thursday

  • Nyack Village Board of Trustees, 7:30 p.m. Public hearing on the village's affordable housing law, which would require that a certain portion of multi-family residential housing developments be set aside for low and moderate income households, or that a fee be paid to the Village in lieu of providing such housing units. Public hearing on the draft budget for 2023-24. Public hearing continues on parking and loading minimum off street parking requirements.
