Service for Robert Pinart, Renowned Stained Glass Artist

Mr. Pinart, who was 90, died Oct. 1 in Nyack.

Robert Pinart (April 1, 1927, Paris - October 1, 2017, Nyack) died in Nyack Hospital of respiratory failure on October 1, 2017.

Robert Pinart was a renowned stained and dalle de verre glass artist who worked in the United States from 1951 until his retirement in 2008. Many churches, synagogues and hospitals in the area surrounding Rockland County have glass windows designed by Robert Pinart.

Mr. Pinart designed stained and dalle de verre glass windows for over 140 institutions and private residences throughout the country, including the National Episcopal Cathedral in Washington, DC.

Known as the best glass colorist in the United States, Mr. Pinart received the first Lifetime Achievement Award from the Stained Glass Association of America, in 1993.

An article about his art and life shows not only many of his works but also the techniques he learned in the ateliers in Paris and in studios in the United States and perfected after going out on his own.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Hannemann Funeral Home in Nyack, NY. A graveside service will take place at Gethsemane Cemetery, 82 Lake Road, Congers, NY on Thursday, October 3 at 1 p.m.
