July 4, 2022: Events Around The Hudson Valley

Patch has your guide to the big Independence Day fireworks shows and other celebrations in and around the region.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — After two years of COVID-related restrictions, communities throughout the Hudson Valley are back in the star-spangled swing with Fourth of July events and fireworks extravaganzas — enough to keep you going "aaahhh" for days!

Do note not all Independence Day events are on July 4.

To give yourself and the family a sense of what it's all about, visit one of the many Revolutionary War-era historic sites in the Hudson Valley. Here are events at just three:

  • Fort Montgomery State Historic Site: Come celebrate America's birthday July 2. The fort's 6-pounder cannon "Ana" will be fired at noon! Fife and drum music to follow. Camp activities and military drills will take place throughout the day.
  • St. Paul's Church Historic Site: July 4, 10:45 a.m. The annual Independence Day celebration, featuring a reading of the Declaration of Independence and tolling, 13 times, of the historic St. Paul's church bell. There will also be refreshments and music. Keynote speaker is scheduled to be Dr. Larry Spruill, longtime City Historian of Mount Vernon and a Professor (Emerita) of History at Morehouse College.
  • Stony Point Battlefield State Historic Site: On July 2 and 3, catch a reading of the Declaration of Independence at 2:45 p.m. and hear the cannon roar at 3 p.m. 44 Battlefield Road, Stony Point, NY.

Rye Playland: Fridays and July 4. Enjoy a beautiful fireworks show at Playland beginning 4th of July weekend and continuing all summer long. Working with Special FX Wizard, Playland will be bringing high energetic fireworks displays once again. With an increased fallout area this year, the display will fill the sky over the park with breathtaking scenes, including gold willows from approximately 500' in the sky cascading down as if to touch the ground. The show will also include crowd favorites like glowing red hearts, twinkly smiling faces and other impressive effects. SHOW TIMES: July 2nd-4th at 9:15 pm, and on every Friday following.

Westchester County Music Fest and Fireworks, Kensico Dam Plaza, Valhalla, Sunday, July 3. Pre-concert entertainment starts at 5 p.m.; fireworks, about 9:15 p.m.

Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Show 2022 begins at 8 p.m. Monday on NBC and streamed on Peacock featuring the U.S. Army Field Band and Soldiers Chorus plus a lot more. The fireworks go off around 9:25 p.m. from barges in the East River. And for a special treat: Macy's Day Fireworks Spectacular without the traffic. Depart from New Rochelle and cruise aboard the Klondike IX to the NYC fireworks spectacular.

Fireworks Over the Hudson River, Walkway Over the Hudson, Monday, July 4. Fireworks start around 9:30 p.m. Tickets required to be on the Walkway during the event. For more information, go here

The Hudson Valley Renegades is hosting fireworks shows after every Friday and Saturday home game with a special Super Fireworks Show after the Sunday, July 3 to celebrate Independence Day. Fireworks Show dates include July 1-3, 15-16, 29-30, Aug. 12-13, 26-27 and Sept.2-3. For more information, go here.

The New York Boulders’ traditional fireworks celebration will take place July 3 and 4 after the game at the ballpark, renamed Clover Stadium in January. “We saw first-hand last season how Clover improved the fan experience in our stadium, and now we are proud to have the Clover name on our ballpark,” Boulders’ President Shawn Reilly said at the time. Jones Beach: The biggest red, white and blue display is in Jones Beach for the return of the Jovia Financial Credit Union Fireworks Spectacular. It is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. Monday with an accompaniment of patriotic music.

And by the way, Orange County is waiting. The 2022 Freedom Fest will be July 29 in Thomas Bull Memorial Park. Gates open at 4 p.m.; fireworks begin at dusk. There will be live music and a variety of food trucks. For more information, go here.

July 2

Pound Ridge: Fireworks Night July 2, 4:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.; Town Park at 199 Westchester Ave.; food trucks, music; parking permits must be purchased in advance at Pound Ridge Police Department; free for residents; $30/car non-residents

July 3

Beacon: Fireworks at Memorial Park, Sunday, July 3, starting at dark. Parking is limited so consider walking and biking to the park.

Southeast: Fireworks are back! The Town of Southeast Fireworks Committee, a team of volunteers from local government, business, and civic organizations, present a fireworks “extravaganza” July 3 on Independence Way. To help, consider donating to the committee.

July 4

Larchmont: July 4: 4th of July at Manor Park. The Dixie Dandies will be playing on the Fourth of July at Manor Park. Go on down to enjoy some Americana music, show starts at 7 p.m., and stay to watch all the fireworks along the LI Sound.

Mamaroneck: The Fireworks Display in Harbor Island Park will begin after sunset around 9:15 - 9:30 p.m. on Monday, July 4. (Rain date is Tues., July 5.) The Firemen's Carnival will take place each evening, between 6:45 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. from Friday, June 24, through Tuesday, July 5, in Harbor Island Park.

New Rochelle: "Spark the Sound" Independence Day fireworks is one of the largest fireworks displays in the region. The fireworks extravaganza kicks off at 9:30 pm, rain or shine. Optimum viewing locations are Hudson Park, Five Islands Park, and waterfront restaurants. Hudson Park is one of the best viewing perches and it’s where most of the evening festivities can be found.

Nyack: July 4 at Nyack village’s Memorial Park, after 9 p.m.

Port Chester: The 2022 Fireworks Celebration on July 4th with a special performance by the Westchester Brassmen. Along with the Town of Rye and the Village of Rye Brook, the Village of Port Chester extends gratitude to Neri's Bakery for once again being the grand sponsor for this year's Firework event at Port Chester H.S. Doors open for performance 7 p.m.. Fireworks 8:30 p.m.
Sleepy Hollow: Fourth of July Fireworks, Sunday, July 4, starting at dusk. Fireworks may be seen from any of the village parks in Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown.

Yonkers: Yonkers traditionally hosts a fireworks display on Independence Day on the banks of the Hudson River with the festivities kicking off at 7 p.m. and the fireworks starting at dusk.
