Bathing Advisory Issued For 18 Nassau Beaches

The advisory affects 14 North Shore and four South Shore beaches.

A bathing advisory at 18 Nassau County beaches has been issued on Tuesday due to heavy rainfall.

The Nassau County Department of Health says this advisory is for precautionary measures as stormwater runoff can impact bathing water quality by elevating bacteria levels, which may exceed the the New York State standard for bathing water quality.

The advisory will be lifted at 9 a.m. on Friday, unless there is more heavy rainfall or if water samples reveal elevated bacterial levels.
