OYSTER BAY, NY — Tropical Storm Elsa churned up the East Coast Thursday night into Friday, unleashing gusty winds and causing widespread flooding throughout Long Island.

As of late Friday morning, Elsa dumped nearly four inches of rain across the region — with Matinecock and Babylon getting the worst of the flooding. The latest rain totals can be found here.

Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Nassau County Executive Laura Curran said she thought the storm did not hit the area as dramatically as predicted.
