The Latest On Groundhog Day, Super Bowl Sunday Snow

The latest on what you need to know about two chances for snow on Long Island. Do you enjoy snow or you ready for spring?

Snowfall total estimates for Groundhog Day Friday on Long Island have been trimmed. Less than an inch of snow is expected to accumulate on most parts of the island. Areas of the East End could see 1-2 inches.

The precipitation should begin as rain Thursday night before turning to a rain and snow mix and then all snow by sunrise Friday, the National Weather Service says.

The Super Bowl Sunday forecast is the one to keep an eye on. The NWS says there's currently a 60 percent chance of snow Sunday night. The latest forecast calls for the snow to begin just around kickoff (6:30 p.m.) for Super Bowl LII. The NWS has not yet released any snow accumulation estimates for Sunday night into Monday.
