Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued For Northern Nassau

Expect damage to trees and power lines as wind gusts reach 60 mph. A tornado is possible.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Nassau County. It is in effect until 9:15 a.m. Saturday.

At 823 a.m., a severe thunderstorm was located over Astoria, or over RFK Bridge, moving northeast at 20 mph, the NWS says.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.

Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the basement or small central room in a sturdy structure. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.
