50 MPH Winds Could Knock Out Power on LI Monday

A wind advisory is in effect as 50 mph winds may cause power outages.

Unless you are a polar bear, you are not going to want to be outside Monday. Wind chill temperatures will be below zero the entire day on Long Island, the National Weather Service says.

A wind advisory is in effect until midnight Monday. Gusts up 50 mph, with the strongest winds likely in the afternoon, could blow down tree limbs and power lines. Scattered power outages are expected.

If you need to be on the roads tomorrow, be cautious of black ice. Any residual moisture and leftover standing water from the 1-2 inches of rain that fell on the island Sunday will freeze.
