12-Year-Old Attacked In Sunset Park Home By Would-Be Robbers: NYPD

Two men dressed as construction workers tried to tape a boy's mouth shut in an attempt to rob his Sixth Avenue home, police said Monday.

BROOKLYN, NY — A 12-year-old boy was attacked by two would-be robbers who tried to tape his mouth shut and break into his Brooklyn home, police said.

Two men dressed as construction workers snuck into an apartment building on 61st Street and Sixth Avenue in Sunset Park Friday about 8 p.m., according to the NYPD.

The men hid under the stairs then creeped out and rang a door bell, police said .

As soon as he boy opened the door, the would-be robbers hit him in the neck with an "unknown object" and tried to tape his mouth shut, according to the NYPD.

But the boy screamed out for help and the two men sprinted away, jumped into a gray Nissan and sped off without stealing anything, police said.

First responders treated the boy in his home, according to the NYPD.

Police, who are still looking for the would-be robbers as of Monday, described them both as about 25-35 years old and said they were last seen wearing neon shirts, white construction helmets, dark pants, black gloves, white face masks, and eyes glasses.
