PEEKSKILL, NY — A fire in a multifamily Peekskill home displaced six adults and six children Sunday morning.

The house at 1017 Orchard St. is considered to be a total loss, according to investigators, News 12 reported, having begun around 10:15 a.m.

Fire officials said the blaze spread quickly through several void spaces in the wood-frame house.

After about two hours, the fire was brought under control, and crews ensured that it was fully extinguished.

News 12 reported that a pet cat was killed in the fire.
