2 Accused Of Selling Alcohol To Minor During Undercover Operation

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Two people were accused of selling alcohol to someone who isn't old enough in an Underage Drinking Initiative in Westchester and Putnam counties.

The initiative took place July 1, the New York State Police said, during which 14 retail establishments were checked for compliance.

They used a trooper in plainclothes and an underage operative with a valid New York driver's license.

Twelve of the shops were in compliance and refused to sell any alcoholic beverages to the minor.

However, two establishments illegally sold alcohol to a minor resulting in two arrests.

Rosia Duarte, 20, of Mohegan Lake, who works at Putnam Valley Lizzie's on Oscawana Lake Road, was charged with prohibited sale of an alcoholic beverage, a misdemeanor. She was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Putnam Valley Town Court July 19.

Jason Walters, 37, of Cortlandt Manor, who works at Peekskill Wine & Liquors on Crompond Road in Cortlandt, was also charged with prohibited sale of an alcoholic beverage. He was issued an appearance returnable to the Cortlandt Town Court July 11.

State police said they routinely conduct underage drinking enforcement operations throughout the state in an effort to curb alcohol abuse and DWI incidents involving teenagers.
