Arrest Made In Fatal Peekskill Shooting

Reginald McClure was charged with second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, felonies.

PEEKSKILL, NY — An arrest was made Wednesday in a fatal shooting in Peekskill.

The City of Peekskill Police Department said officers responded around 7:30 p.m. Sunday to 911 calls of shots fired in the area of Sherman Avenue and McKinley Street.

When officers got to the location, they found Ernest Wilson, 53, with multiple gunshot wounds.

Medical aid was immediately rendered, and Wilson was taken to Westchester Medical Center.

He died of his wounds Wednesday, police said.

Authorities said a suspect was established early in the investigation.

With the help of several law enforcement agencies, Reginald McClure, 38, was located and arrested Wednesday evening.

He was charged with second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, felonies.

Police said it was determined soon after the shooting that it was not a random incident.

McClure was arraigned Thursday in Peekskill City Court and sent to the Westchester County Jail.

Peekskill police said the FBI Safe Streets Task Force, New York State Police, Westchester County Department of Public Safety, Yonkers Police Department were among those that assisted with the investigation.
