Buchanan Elects Trustees, Re-Elects Mayor

Voters in the village went to the polls on Tuesday for the contested races.

BUCHANAN, NY — Voters in the village of Buchanan went to the polls Tuesday to elect a mayor and two trustees.

Incumbent Mayor Theresa Knickerbocker, on the Resident’s Party line, was returned to office, according to unofficial results from the clerk’s office.

She received 365 votes, while challenger Deputy Mayor Anthony Capicotti, a Republican, received 278 votes.

There were four candidates running for two trustee positions.

  • Daniel Stewart, incumbent, Republican Party: 329 votes
  • Awilda Baez, Resident’s Party: 326 voters

Also on the ballot were Richard Funchion, running on the Resident’s Party line, who received 320 votes, and incumbent Steven Laker, running on the Republican Party line, who received 314 votes.
