Closures Of Bear Mountain Bridge Road Planned For This Week

The planned construction work on Route 6/202 will take place nightly, Monday through Wednesday of this week, weather permitting.

TOWN OF CORTLANDT, NY — The Bear Mountain Bridge will remain open, but the Bear Mountain Bridge Road could cause delays and detours for drivers in the area.

The New York State Department of Transportation said that U.S. Route 6/202 (Bear Mountain Bridge Road) will be closed nightly between State Route 9D and U.S. Route 9 in the Town of Cortlandt, for construction work.

The work is expected to take place between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m., from Monday, May 6 through Wednesday, May 8, weather permitting.

Drivers should expect delays and follow posted detours using State Route 9D, State Route 403, and U.S. Route 9.

The NYSDOT is reminding drivers to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones. Remember, fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of your driver's license.
