Cortlandt Manor Man Faces Felony DWI Charge: Police

Law enforcement said the man had an open container of alcohol in his car.

CORTLANDT MANOR, NY — A Cortlandt Manor man was accused of drunken driving after a report of an erratic driver.

The Yorktown Police Department said William Brown, 66, of Cortlandt Manor, was arrested and charged Saturday with driving while intoxicated with one prior conviction and aggravated driving while intoxicated blood alcohol content of 0.18 percent or more with one prior conviction, felonies, and fail to maintain lane and possession of an open container or alcohol in a vehicle, traffic infractions.

Police said, shortly before 9:30 p.m. Saturday, a report was received about a vehicle driving erratically on Route 6.

Officers responded to the area and located the vehicle in question. They said they saw the car not staying in its lane.

After an investigation, officers determined that Brown was driving while intoxicated by alcohol and also had an open container of alcohol in the car.

He was arrested and taken to the Yorktown Police Department for processing.

Additional investigation found Brown had a blood alcohol content of 0.18 percent or more.

After processing, he was issued traffic tickets for the charges and released on his own recognizance when his blood alcohol content was below the legal limit.

Brown is scheduled to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court May 11.
