Cortlandt School of Performing Arts Begins Kids' Theater Program

The new program is for first- through fifth-graders.

From The Cortlandt School of Performing Arts

When The Cortlandt School of Performing Arts opened, they had every intention of starting a theater program. After all, Ray Arrucci is a professional equity actor and his wife, Carol a theater musical director and conductor.

"Our music school in Croton grew rapidly, then we opened the second location in Mohegan Lake - And worked very hard at expanding our staff and student base. There was no time for theater!" explains co-owner Carol Arrucci. "Now the time is right, and we are ready for this next phase of CSPA!"

Arrucci is well known for her work with children, both in local theater, in regional theater (Westchester Broadway Theater) and on Broadway (Joseph and the Amazing....Dreamcoat). She has been nominated 5 times for the NY Metro Awards for her musical direction at Briarcliff high school, and has musically directed over 200 shows for community and regional theater. As a stage director, she has directed over a hundred musical productions at Blue Mountain Middle School where she taught for 25 years. Carol also worked as the musical director at the award winning Bridgeport Downtown Cabaret Kids theatre for 20 years, She is certainly no stranger to children "on stage", and as a vocalist and professional actress, she has experienced it all, first-hand.

With the early success of former children's programs Kids Kabaret and Kids Care Cabaret (a children's chorus that serves the community) CSPA is ready for something bigger! Now, the school brings a wonderful musical theatre program to Croton-on-Hudson for 1st through 5th graders, this winter through spring and again in the summer, as a 2-week camp program (July 24-August 4)
