Downtown Peekskill Hosts Outdoor Music on Saturday, July 27 2019

Inaugural Summer Event Features Live Music Performances, Food & Beer, Vendors and Kids Activities

Peekskill Summer Sounds is scheduled for Saturday, July 27, 2019 from 2 pm to 10 pm, rain or shine, and will be held in Downtown Peekskill, near the Gazebo. The event is open to the public and features live stage music from top performers, activities for kids, artisan vendors, extensive food choices, and a selection of cold beer.

The festival is preceded by the Peekskill Farmers Market held on Bank Street from 8am to 2pm and runs in conjunction with the Peekskill Film Festival weekend.

“Peekskill Summer Sounds will be one of the Hudson Valley’s premiere summer music events, drawing people from the tri-state area to enjoy free, open-air live performances on the streets of historic downtown Peekskill. This summertime event will reinforce Peekskill as the number one choice for entertainment and fun,” said Brian Fassett, President of the Peekskill Business Improvement District.

A special kids zone will be set up from 2pm to 6pm featuring free activities on the north end of Division Street between Park and Main Streets.

Local restaurants will be hosting indoor and outdoor dining throughout the festival with food specials along with local and out-of-town food trucks located in the parking lot between Main Street and Central Avenue. Local bartenders will be pouring from 15 taps of select cold beers at two locations.

The main stage will be positioned on Central Avenue near Bruised Apple Bookstore, and will feature live bands all day from 2 pm to 10 pm. There is free seating for up to 300 people. The full music lineup includes Conigliaro Consorts, Accidental Gypsies, Ricky Blues, Blue Chips, Vinyl Siding, and River of Dreams, Billy Joel Tribute Band.

There will be craft and specialty vendors along Park and Division Streets. The former Ford Piano Building at 16 South Division Street will be transformed into into an art gallery and mini film theater, showing shorts from the Peekskill Film Festival and displaying large form art. “Between the lineup of music and the participation of our downtown restaurants for indoor or outdoor dining, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Peekskill is the Hudson Valley's go-to city for food and entertainment,” said event organizer Brendon Fitzgerald, who serves as Vice President of the Peekskill Business Improvement District.

Free parking is available in the Nelson Avenue Garage and the James Street Garage. There will be multiple street closures starting at 8am on Central Avenue from Nelson Avenue to Division Street, Park Street from Bank Street to Division Street, Division Street from South Street to Main Street. Visitors should plan accordingly.
