HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Tropical Storm Elsa will bring heavy rain and possible flash flooding to parts of the Hudson Valley Friday, but areas to the east and south will likely see the brunt of it.

Having come up the east coast, Elsa continues moving to the northeast, and the Hudson Valley will soon see the last of the storm.

However, there is yet another round of showers and thunderstorms in the forecast for Friday afternoon as a cold front moves through.

For an area where the ground is already saturated, there could be an additional 2 to 4 inches of rainfall through Friday afternoon, the National Weather Service said.

This will present a likelihood for scattered areas of flash flooding.

A flash flood warning and a watch for much of the lower Hudson Valley are set to expire at noon. However, a flash flood watch for the mid-Hudson Valley is in effect until 4 p.m Friday.

After the Hudson Valley gets through Friday, there could be a little sunshine in our lives. A little.

"Once we get past the effects of the cold front, we will enter a lull of some much-needed drier weather which will hold us over through Saturday," Hudson Valley Weather said.

"So if you're looking to get some vitamin sun, clean up from storm damage, dry your basement, Saturday is the day," they said.

Don't blink or you might miss it. The forecast calls for the possibility of showers and thunderstorms for Sunday and Monday.
