Field Library Announces Six Programs For April Vacation Week

During vacation week in April the library will be offering six programs for families and children including egg dyeing starting Apr. 10.

From The Field Library: To welcome spring, The Field Library will be offering six different programs during the April vacation week. Children who attend any of these programs will be invited to pick out a FREE book, in honor of National Library Week.

Egg Dyeing - Monday, April 10 at 2, 3 & 4 pm

Children three and up can decorate eggs using dye, special crayons, and stickers. Space is limited, so children must sign up for one of the three sessions.

Story Quilts – Tuesday, April 11 at 11:30 am

Families are invited to celebrate the work of award-winning illustrator/author Faith Ringgold, known for her inspirational story quilts. Participants can listen to one of Ringgold’s stories and make a story quilt of their own. All materials will be supplied. Staff from Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art (HVCCA) will talk about Ringgold’s quilts, which are currently on display at HVCCA. All children will receive a FREE pass to HVCCA. This program is cosponsored by The Field Library and HVCCA.

Poet-Tree Games - Tuesday, April 11 at 2 pm

Children can participate in a workshop of poetry games that makes poetry writing easy and fun.

National Library Week Celebration – Tuesday, April 11 at 4 pm

The Field Library will host a special celebration in honor of National Library Week! All ages are welcome to join in the fun and games. Refreshments will be served.

Free Game Play – Wednesday, April 12 at 2 pm

Children of all ages are invited to join the library for a program of free play with the library’s huge collection of board games, Mad Libs and more!

Poem in a Pocket – Thursday, April 13 at 2 pm

In honor of National Poetry Month, the library invites children and families to create decorative poems for the library’s Poem-in-a-Pocket display. The library will supply poems (although children and adults are encouraged to write their own), as well as craft materials to create fancy borders. Everyone is invited to read their poems at the library’s annual Poetry Slam on Thursday, April 20th at 4:30 pm.
