MONTROSE, NY — A new superintendent was appointed for the Hendrick Hudson School District Tuesday.

The Board of Education approved Michael A. Tromblee as superintendent. He will begin serving in his new role Dec. 1, according to a district spokesperson.

Tromblee comes from the Mahopac Central School District, where, for the past five years, he has served as the assistant superintendent for curriculum instruction and professional learning.

He said he was immensely grateful to the board.

“I have an extreme sense of personal responsibility to serve the community and its students,” Tromblee said, “and to make sure the hopes and aspirations the community has for those students can be met.”

Alexis Bernard, the district’s Board of Education president, said appointing Tromblee was an honor and privilege.

“Hendrick Hudson is a special place and I believe he is the perfect leader to drive us toward a successful future,” she said.

Prior to working in Mahopac, Tromblee served as the director of technology for the New Rochelle school district and the same job for the Pelham school district.

He also worked for five years in Pelham as a high school social studies teacher.

Tromblee also spent four years in the United States Air Force before working in education.

The board said its consultants screened nearly 60 candidates, interviewed 12 in person and narrowed the pool down to six candidates, all of whom were interviewed by the board trustees.
